Child Support Agreements

Child Support Agreements

A written agreement between parents or carers about child support payments

Child support is governed by the Child Support (Assessment) Act, and is managed by Services Australia.

The formula used to calculate the child support payable takes into account each parent’s income, the number of children and their ages, the time that each parent spends with the children, and the care obligations the parents have for any additional children.

For many people, however, the formula used to calculate the child support payment simply doesn’t fit their family situation. For them, a tailored, expertly negotiated Binding Child Support Agreement is what is needed.

There are two types of Child Support Agreements,

  1. a Binding Child Support Agreement and
  2. a Limited Child Support Agreement.

We regularly prepare, assist, and advise on the negotiation and preparation of these Agreements, and can guide you through the process.
